Features

  • a fully functional multi-user system at an affordable price, for anything from office workstation to webserver to multimedia to thin client.

  • Your system boots and runs from software installed to the hard disk

  • Can be set up in a dual-boot configuration with an existing operating system

Performance

The speed is comparable to the original system supplied by your hardware vendor. All applications are modern and full featured, compatible with a wide range of hardware types.

Impact to an existing system

The GNU/LINUX software will be written to the hard disk. If there is an existing system on the disk, it can be repartitioned to preserve the original system.

When the Standard System is a good choice

For someone who wants to install a Linux system for long term use, either to reclaim older unused hardware, to abandon an existing system whose costs are growing, or to try out Linux in a dual-boot configuration with their existing system.

How the Standard System boots

The system boots from the hard drive. Depending on the hardware, a simple command may need to be given at boot time. Once booted, the system can stay up for months. A dual-boot configuration can be provided allowing a choice of whether to boot the Linux system or the original system.
