Features |
|
Performance |
The speed is comparable to the original system supplied by your hardware vendor. All applications are modern and full featured, compatible with a wide range of hardware types. |
Impact to an existing system |
The GNU/LINUX software will be written to the hard disk. If there is an existing system on the disk, it can be repartitioned to preserve the original system. |
When the Standard System is a good choice |
For someone who wants to install a Linux system for long term use, either to reclaim older unused hardware, to abandon an existing system whose costs are growing, or to try out Linux in a dual-boot configuration with their existing system. |
How the Standard System boots |
The system boots from the hard drive. Depending on the hardware, a simple command may need to be given at boot time. Once booted, the system can stay up for months. A dual-boot configuration can be provided allowing a choice of whether to boot the Linux system or the original system. |
