Performance |
Running from the CD is slower than running from an installation to the hard disk, and depends on the speed of the CD drive. Often, the CD can be copied to the hard disk or even to memory. This improves speed and allows use of the CD drive after the system boots. |
Impact to an existing system |
No impact. When the CD is removed, the system will boot into its original state. |
When the Instant System is a good choice |
For someone with software problems that need to be solved before the original software can be updated or fixed. Also a good choice for a low cost system which can be carried to different machines. |
How the Instant System boots |
The system must boot from the CD. Depending on the hardware, a simple command may need to be entered at boot time. If you lose the boot command, we can phone it in to you. Once running, the system can go months between reboots. |
